This fast-moving survival course is unlike any other.
It stresses all of the important survival techniques that an
officer uses the least but needs to know the best on a daily basis. This
course consists of: |
|
20
hours - DEFENSIVE TACTICS |
|
20
hours - FIREARMS (HANDGUN) |
|
|
|
The
TCTI Defensive Tactics portion begins with officer presence and moves
into subject control techniques for low levels of resistance.
Techniques will also be taught for controlling resistive
behavior, acts of physical aggression toward the officer, including
knife defense and handcuffing. The Defensive Tactics portion will finish by blending D.T.
into firearm skills and vice versa.
Simulations are conducted with punching bags, allowing the
student to learn proper body mechanics and power development in addition
to de-sensitizing them to full-force punches and kicks being delivered
from various angles.
The
firearm portion concentrates on the most up-to-date SURVIVAL
SHOOTING TECHNIQUES for
the duty handgun.
Dim light shooting is conducted on day 4 of the training,
dramatically reinforcing the survival skills, which have been learned by
the students.
Many of the defensive tactics skills previously practiced during
the first two days will carry over into the firearms portion, making for
a more realistic training experience.
A block on instruction of off-duty survival will also be
included. |
