This is a 5-day Firearms Instructor Course designed to educate and certify officers as instructors in training with the semi-automatic pistol.  Classroom time, lectures and range training will be included in the 40-hour program.  This course is designed with instructor development as the primary for the firearms instructor.  The 2 ½ day training course included is to familiarize officers with a suggested course format for pistol training.  Successful course completion and certification will include:

** PASS/FAIL EVALUATION CRITERIA DURING THE TRANSITIONAL COURSE

** NUMERICAL SCORE: SHOOTING EVALUATION COURSE (80% REQUIRED)

** WRITTEN EXAMINATION (80% REQUIRED)

** ORAL PRESENTATION: COURSE DESIGN AND JUSTIFICATION

Equipment Required:

Each Student must provide the following:                       

• Quality Semi-Automatic Pistol (current departmental issue or expected issue)
• Duty gear - holster, belt, keepers, magazine pouch
• Spare magazines: minimum 3 magazines per person
• Flashlight
• Ear and eye protection (required)
• Note-taking materials
• Ammunition: 750 rounds, quality duty-type (factory ammo recommended)
